Fun Monday 02.11.08

This week's Fun Monday is being hosted by Crown Princess.

The Rules:

Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.

Be careful what you ask for. This song is my theme.

"The Unforgiven"

Artist:Metallica

New blood joins this earth
And quickly he's subdued
Through constant pained disgrace
The young boy learns their rules

With time the child draws in
This whipping boy done wrong
Deprived of all his thoughts
The young man strugggles on and on he's known
A vow unto his own
That never from this day
His will they'll take away-eay

Chorus

What I've felt
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never be
Never see
Won't see what might have been
What I've felt
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never free
Never me
So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN

They dedicate their lives
To RUNING all of his
He tries to please THEM all
This bitter man he is
Throughout his life the same
He's battled constantly
This fight he cannot win
A tired man they see no longer cares
The old man then prepares
To die regretfully
That old man here is me

Chorus

You labeled me
I'll label you
So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN
Never Free
Never Me
So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN
You labeled me
I'll label you
So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN

It has to be over 15 years ago now when this song came out and hearing it again today sure brings back memories. I used to listen to it over and over again. It was at a time in my life when I...well anyway. It had meaning to me back then and still does today. "I" feel it's a very powerful song.

I like the lyrics. That's music my kids love. Is that "metal"? Must be. I read some of the rest of your blog. Very interesting. I'll be back.

This makes me want to hug you and say, "there, there, it'll be all right." Great choice. Now go sing with your babies.

I was an angst ridden teen when that CD came out. I loved it then. Absolutely love Metallica still. One of the radio stations in Houston has an hour of Mandatory Metallica nightly. Yum.

Very good choice. When I'm in a mood, this is my song.

SWEET!!! I LOVE that song!! Great choice!!
Back in my hometown there's a Rock station that has a mandatory Metallica hour!
I have this song on my road trip soundtrack. I have to make sure I am on cruise control or else I'd get pulled over!

This also makes me think of something I meant to put on my bucket list, It is my life long dream to see Metallica in concert!

oohh he he. i'm a closet hard rocker. some songs just make me rock out. for a country girl, that's hard to admit. but growing up in the 80s and 90s qualifies me as 'screwed up' musically, because i like a lot of the one hit wonders that remind me of growing up, but i love old school country and the beatles, 60s rock, etc. but sneak me some mainstream metal and i'll headbang with the best..

Interesting song. Video is quite interesting too... gives more meaning to the words especially for us visual types. :)

Thanks

An apt choice, given your line of work...

As for being green with envy for my theme song - hey, you have your own MOVIE!!!!

Hmmm... The video works fine for me.

My boys love Metallica. They've never been one of my favorites, but their lyrics tend to be quite deep and meaningful, as with this song. They don't write fluff. This is certainly a powerful song as others have said, and kinda dark. I hope you have some happier songs in your life soundtrack, too:o)

My daughter is a Metallica fan. I am not but I can appreciate some of their songs. The ones I've heard anyway.

can't say I like the song..but it is a good choice for you!

My claim to fame...the guitar player used to be a patient of mine...and....when Metallica was Exodus (the garage band), my best friend lived next door to the garage they would practice in...we used to hang out with them!!

Wow! I'm glad you posted the lyrics! :)

Well, it may seem a little dark, but the song rocks. The song seems to fit your profession; yet, I believe that eventually we all are forgiven.

Oh ya....brings back memories. Our kids used to have that.

OH!! And I love your Fun Monday Header.

Ah, someone who really has a good taste in music. I applaud you.

Ohhh something dark and heavy! Rock on!

I wasn't allowed to listen to them back in the day. I wouldn't have picked you for a metal fan!

This brings back memories of hanging out with one of my best friends in college. I need to find him again....

I like this, very bleak and dark though. If I knew you a little I would pick your brain about your choice! Sorry, just naturally curious about people. Thank you for your service to our country Robocop. Try not to be too grieved by this political crap. People who have invested their time and service like you, have a lot of reason to vent. (I haven't read the whole "no sh*t" blog post yet, but I am going to next).
