The Winner: OPEC

The Reason: Raising Fuel Prices

The Story

Saudi Arabia, OPEC's de-facto leader, said Wednesday the oil group will slash production by 2 million barrels a day at the beginning of next year — its largest single reduction ever.

Russia and other non-OPEC countries said they would join in the effort by removing hundreds of thousands more barrels from the market.

An official decision to cut 2 million barrels from output all at once would be a first for the organization. OPEC had cut that amount from its output four years ago, but that was done in two stages.

Asked Wednesday if he stood by that figure, Naimi told reporters "that's the correct number." Later, he said the cut would take effect Jan.1, pending formal approval by the ministers.

Also significant would be formal support from Russia, Azerbaijan and other non-OPEC producers. Mexico, Norway and Russia slashed production in the late 1990s, at a time oil was selling for about $10 a barrel.

Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani said he supported the oil supply cut of at least two million barrels per day at the group's Wednesday meeting in Algeria.

OPEC gave ministers ammunition to justify cuts in its latest monthly market report, released Tuesday. The bloc predicted demand for its crude oil will have fallen by 700,000 barrels per day this year, and will drop by at least twice that amount in 2009 as the worsening global economy "is expected to have a strong impact on oil demand."

Ahead of a formal decision, other OPEC ministers also expressed sentiment for a large cut to shock the market and put a floor under prices.

Shokri Ghanem, Libya's delegate to OPEC, said that "we should make a substantial cut" and that 2 million barrels was "a very good number."

Iranian Petroleum Minister Gholamhossein Nozari did not give a number, but said that Iran would support a reduction of 2 million barrels per day.

Still, while eager to push prices higher, OPEC must weigh production cuts against the risk of driving the economies of its top customers deeper into recession.

A senior OPEC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly, said "reasonable" OPEC nations would accept prices around $50 a barrel in the short term so as not to contribute to the world economic downturn.

Russian media quote Deputy Premier Igor Sechin as saying Moscow is ready to take 300,000 barrels off the market. And the oil minister of Azerbaijan tells The Associated Press that his country is willing to cut back by the same amount.

The International Energy Agency recently forecast that global demand for oil would fall this year, the first decline since 1983.

Oil's collapse by more than $100 a barrel has made July's all-time high above $147 seem a distant memory but many analysts now expect a rebound and say crude's bear market may prove to have been exceptionally brief.

Oil prices could already have hit rock-bottom for 2008 when they touched lows near $40 a barrel this month, and are poised to climb despite the dire outlook for the global economy.

Merrill Lynch shocked investors earlier this month by saying that oil prices could fall as low as $25 a barrel next year.

Robocop's Comment:

So much for the excuse of supply and demand. Demand is at a constant high, so for our troubles, these sand monkeys want to keep the prices high. When OPEC finally falls on their asses, I hope we don't bail them out.

The Winner: The Freedom From Religion Foundation

The Reason: They are suing President Bush, the governor of Wisconsin and other officials over the federal law designating a National Day of Prayer.

MADISON, Wis. —
The nation's largest group of atheists and agnostics is suing President Bush, the governor of Wisconsin and other officials over the federal law designating a National Day of Prayer.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation sued Friday in U.S. district court, arguing that the president's mandated proclamations calling on Americans to pray violates a constitutional ban on government officials endorsing religion.

The day of prayer, held each year on the first Thursday of May, creates a "hostile environment for nonbelievers, who are made to feel as if they are political outsiders," the lawsuit said.

The national proclamation issued this year asked God's blessings on our country and called for Americans to observe the day with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle is named in the suit because he is one of 50 governors who issued proclamations calling for the prayer day. The foundation is based in Madison.

Shirley Dobson, chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and White House press secretary Dana Perino also are named.

The foundation has filed numerous lawsuits in recent years, including one rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court last year that attacked President Bush's faith-based initiative.

The White House and Doyle spokesman Lee Sensenbrenner had no comment on the lawsuit. A message seeking comment from the task force was not returned Friday.

Robocop's Comment:

First off, some semantics.

the president's mandated proclamations calling on Americans to pray violates a constitutional ban on government officials endorsing religion.

The First Amendment bans the government from IMPOSING a state religion. It says nothing about endorsements. They need to read the fraking document.

"hostile environment for nonbelievers, who are made to feel as if they are political outsiders,

Has it happened yet?!?

If you don't want to participate, then don't do it. You won't go to prison. Hell, yes, but prison, no. Just more Libtard nonsense, and a good reason to be called Douche Of The Week.

The Winner: Pastor Steve Richardson

The Reason: This pastor of the First United Methodist Church traded in Child Pornography on both his personal computer, and his church computer.

ROYSE CITY, Texas - After his arrest in connection to a child pornography case, Pastor Steve Richardson appeared in court for the first time Thursday in downtown Dallas.

Authorities said the investigation has been underway for nearly a year. According to court documents, Richardson admitted to investigators that he traded child pornography from his work computer.

A search online for Richardson led to a MySpace page that revealed the pastor to be a father with a wife and two boys.

On the day before taking his job at the First United Methodist Church nearly two years ago, Richardson wrote, "We have been blessed with a newer and bigger home and have been overwhelmed by the kindness of our new church members."

Now, federal investigators say the 36-year-old pastor used the church's office computer for child pornography.

According to court documents, Richardson, under the user name "cowboysspades," sent dozens of pictures of girls under the age 10, including infants, engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Richardson was busted after he allegedly sent images to an undercover federal agent, who used another child pornography suspect's identity, authorities said.

Graphic online chats between Richardson and the agent are documented in the criminal complaint.

The court documents report when Richardson, under the user name cowboysspades, asked "Vlad," the undercover agent, about a child's age, he stated "even more awesome" when the agent responded four.

"Yeah, such a cute age," the agent responded.

"You ever doing anything with her?" cowboysspades asked.

Before serving as the pastor at First United Methodist Church in Royse City, the church's site said he worked in Boyd for five years as a pastor and also was an associate pastor and youth minister in Dallas area churches.

Thursday, family, friends and church members showed up to support Richardson at his first court appearance in federal court.

"The church holds the sanctity of the pastoral office and the place of the church as an environment of safety and security for all as an absolute value," read a statement released by the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. "No abuse of the pastoral office can or will be tolerated.

Douche Of The Week 09.22.08

The Winner: Columnist Heather Mallick

The Reason: Calling Palin Supporters "White Trash", and other stupid statements.

The Story:

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is reviewing complaints from both Americans and Canadians about a Web site columnist who recently described Sarah Palin’s supporters as “white trash,” compared the vice presidential candidate to a “porn actress” and called her daughter’s boyfriend a “redneck” and “ratboy.”

The incendiary column by Toronto-based writer Heather Mallick appeared on the CBC News site on Sept. 5, after the close of the Republican National Convention. On the same day, Britain’s Guardian newspaper published another column by Mallick in which she trashed Palin’s home state of Alaska as a “frontier state full of drunks and crazy people.”

In the CBC story, Mallick wrote that John McCain’s running mate “added nothing to the ticket that the Republicans didn’t already have sewn up, the white trash vote.”

She proceeded to write that the Alaska governor “has a toned-down version of the porn actress look favored by this decade’s woman, the overtreated hair, puffy lips and permanently alarmed expression.”

She also questioned why the Palins were allowing Levi Johnston — 17-year-old Bristol Palin’s boyfriend and father of her unborn baby — into the family.

“What normal father would want Levi ‘I’m a f—-n’ redneck’ Johnson prodding his daughter?” Mallick asked.

“I know that I have an attachment to children that verges on the irrational, but why don’t the Palins? I’m not the one preaching homespun values but I’d destroy that ratboy before I’d let him get within scenting range of my daughter again, and so would you. … Turn your guns on Levi, ma’am.”

CBC Ombudsman Vince Carlin told FOXNews.com that he has gotten “quite a few complaints about [the column], both from Canada and the U.S,” and said he’s reviewing its contents to see if it meets CBC’s journalistic standards and practices.

But he noted that Mallick is a “columnist not a journalist.”

CBC spokesman Jeff Keay said Mallick’s column does not reflect the views of CBC or the Canadian government, which owns but does not directly control CBC.

“She’s an opinion columnist. I think by definition they can be expected to occasionally use provocative language,” he said. But in this case, Keay said the column “could be perceived as excessive or offensive to some people.”

Mallick also wrote on the CBC Web site that Republican men, whom she called “sexual inadequates,” must think that women would vote for Palin just because she’s a woman.

In her Guardian column, Mallick claimed her own small-town credentials are just as solid as Palin’s, writing “Palin cannot out-hick me.”

But she said Palin should have stayed in her hometown of Wasilla, writing, “Small towns are places that smart people escape from, for privacy, for variety, for intellect, for survival. Palin should have stayed home.”

Mallick also blasted Alaska as Canada’s ugly stepchild.

“We love our own north to the point of covering our eyes and humming as it melts … but Alaska is different from our north,” she wrote. “We share a 1,500-mile border with a frontier state full of drunks and crazy people, of the blight that cheap-built structures bring to a glorious landscape.

“Alaska is our redneck cousin, our Yukon territory forms a blessed buffer zone, and thank God he never visits. Alaska is the end of the line.”

Robocop's Comment:

Stupid bitch, I am not white, therefore, I am not "white trash". Get it right. Oh, I love the comparison between Mrs. Palin and a porn star. You watch much porn Mizz Mallick? What do you look like? See here. Can you say dead rat? Wrong, that would be insulting to the rats. You are just a jealous beast of a feminazi who could not attract a bus full of convicts, even if you were the last woman on Earth. As for Palin's future son in law, at least he is sticking around. Doing the right thing might be a new concept for your type. If my Black Lab knocked you up, he would neuter himself. He sure as hell would not stick around. Mr. Keay calls you "an opinion columnist". Great. Here is MY opinion. Mizz Mallick is the reason Pro-Choice groups have a right to exist. One look at you, and I think retroactive abortion. Your face, and you mind speak volumes on the need for birth control. A Masters in English Literature does not make you an expert on Palin, rednecks, or the State of Alaska.

The Reason: He is dummer than Bush,AND he wants to run the country.

Douche Of The Week 08.29.08

The Winners: Jennifer Richards and Sean Michael Block.

The Reason: This lovely couple attempted to pimp out their 5 year old daughter as payment for a used car, apartment, and childcare for their 10 month old child.

The Story:

SAN ANTONIO —
A San Antonio couple is accused of trying to trade sex with the woman's 5-year-old daughter for an apartment, a used car and child care for her 10-month old daughter.

Jennifer Richards, 25, and her married boyfriend, Sean Michael Block, 40, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy Stein Nowak on Friday. Richards is charged with using interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor. Block is charged with distributing child pornography.

Nowak ordered Block held. Richards' detention hearing was delayed until Tuesday, the San Antonio Express-News reported Sunday.

According to an affidavit unsealed last Tuesday, the investigation began when an informant told the FBI about a text message allegedly sent by Block reading: "Nice piece 5 yrs old belongs to my gf and she wants to sell it."

Richards and Block crafted a deal that, in addition to the apartment and used car, included child care for Richards' 10-month-old daughter, whose sexual service the couple intended to sell later, Rex Miller, the FBI's lead agent on the case, testified.

The couple had also hoped to blackmail the informant, Miller said.

Richards "was of the belief that these sexual interactions would be a positive experience for (her daughter) and that Richards would receive sexual gratification" from watching, according to the affidavit.

Authorities said both children are no longer in Richards' custody and that neither child was sold for sex.

After reviewing computers the couple used and listening to taped conversations, Miller determined Block and Richards were making further plans to abduct, rape and "carve up" a teenage runaway.

Block allegedly sent an e-mail with a link to a Russian child pornography site, according to the affidavit.

Ronald Guyer, Block's lawyer, acknowledged the severity of the charges. But Guyer told the judge that there was no evidence that the behavior progressed beyond Block's fantasy.

"There has been no action on his part," Guyer told Nowak.

Richard's attorney did not immediately return a call or e-mail left Sunday by The Associated Press seeking comment.

The couple worked at the Cheesecake Factory at North Star Mall, where he was a bartender and she was a waitress.

Court records show that Block's now-estranged wife Sarah Block filed for a protective order earlier this week on behalf of the couple's 14-month-old child. Her lawyer said she filed for divorce Friday.

Robocop's Comment:

There will be a special place in hell for this couple.

The Winner: Chalala Gutierrez

The Reason: Making money off her dead husband, Richard Thomas Vega II. He killed himself over a contest to own a Nissan. She sued the dealer, blaming them for his suicide.

The Story:

A Texas car dealership has settled a lawsuit filed by the widow of a man who killed himself after dropping out of a contest in which participants tried to keep their hand on a vehicle the longest.

Details of the settlement between Patterson Nissan of Longview, in east Texas, and Chalala Gutierrez, the wife of contestant Richard Thomas Vega II, are confidential, officials said.

The suit, settled Thursday, focused on a 2005 contest in which the winner of the "Hands on a Hardbody" contest was awarded a Nissan truck and other prizes.

Just before a scheduled rest break 48 hours into the event, Vega dropped out, crossed a street and broke into a Kmart store, where he took a gun from a case and shot himself.

In her suit, Gutierrez alleged that the dealership was negligent in organizing and conducting the contest. She likened Vega and other contestants' stress and sleep deprivation to "brainwashing" and said the dealership failed to provide a safe environment for contestants who "temporarily lost their sanity."

Court documents show damages sought included fneral costs, lost income of about $600,000 and court costs.

Attorney Adam Allen said the dealership was happy with the result. An attorney for Gutierrez said the settlement resolved all the allegations in the lawsuit.

The contest was featured in a 1990s documentary by the same name. It has not been restaged since Vega's death.

Robocop's Comment:

Patterson Nissan did not force Richard Thomas Vega's hand off that truck. They did not force him to cross the street, break into K-Mart, pull a gun out of a case, find and load the ammunition, and then end his miserable life. Patterson Nissan did none of these things. Chalala Gutierrez did not start this lawsuit out of love, or out of a sense of loss for the love of her life. She saw $$$$. Sure, she'll give some bullshit lie that "He would have wanted it this way..." all she wants. This does not change the fact that she is now officially a Douche.

The WINNER: Andrea Curry-Demus, 38, of Wilkinsburg,PA

The Reason: Stealing a baby from a pregnant woman (18 year old Kia Johnson), yes,she cut it out of mother/killed her.

The Story:

Pa. Woman Accused of Stealing Baby Charged With Homicide

PITTSBURGH —
A woman suspected of cutting open a pregnant woman's uterus and stealing the baby has been charged with homicide, unlawful restraint and kidnapping, police said Sunday.

Andrea Curry-Demus, 38, of Wilkinsburg, is charged in the death of Kia Johnson, 18, of McKeesport. Curry-Demus is accused of taking the baby boy to a Pittsburgh hospital and claiming it was her own.

Johnson's body was found Friday in Curry-Demus's apartment. The body was positively identified through dental records, Allegheny County Medical Examiner Karl Williams said Sunday.

Police said Sunday that the two likely met during visitation at the Allegheny County Jail. Police believe they were there at the same time to visit different inmates.

Curry-Demus showed up at the hospital Thursday with a newborn that still had the umbilical cord attached, police said. Tests later proved that she was not the mother.

Police said Curry-Demus then said she bought the baby for $1,000 from the baby's mother.

The baby was "apparently doing well," Williams said Saturday. The hospital would not release any information about the boy's condition.

In 1990, Curry-Demus, then known as Andrea Curry, was accused of stabbing a woman in an alleged plot to steal the woman's infant. A day after that stabbing, Curry-Demus snatched a 3-week-old baby girl from a hospital. The baby was found unharmed with Curry-Demus at her home the next day.

Curry-Demus pleaded guilty in 1991 to various charges from both incidents and got three to 10 years in prison, according to court records. She was paroled in August 1998.

Robocop's Comment:

Ten years was too short of a sentence. If she got at least 20 years with no parole, that victim would still be alive. Ms. Cury-Demus, and the Judge that sentenced her to only ten years are both equally guilty of this disgusting crime. There should be a special place in hell for all of them.

The WINNER: Unidentified 16-year-old Lee County, Georgia Boy

The Reason:

The Story

LEESBURG, Ga. —
A Georgia teen is facing child cruelty charges after an online video showed a young man launching a baby several feet across a room using an inflatable pillow.

The video posted on YouTube shows the boy putting a baby on one side of a large yellow pillow and then jumping on the pillow, sending the child flying several feet across the floor, where the baby lands and cries.

"He really had no explanation — just thought it would be funny to put it on YouTube," Col. Duane Sepp of the Lee County Sheriff's Office told FOX News. "It's all about, I guess, that five seconds of glory or whatever, and it's terrible it has to happen at the cost of an 8-month-old child."

The 16-year-old Lee County boy was arrested Tuesday after a school teacher saw the video and called the sheriff's office. The boy's name was not released because of his age.

"This is going to be handled in juvenile court, although this has some detention time that can be placed on the juvenile offender," Sepp said. "The judge, I'm sure, is going to take this very seriously, and when the tape is shown I don't think it's going to be as funny as what he [the offender] originally thought it was."

The teen has been charged with a felony count of cruelty to children as well as a misdemeanor count of the same charge.

Sepp told FOX News that the teen who filmed the baby launch with his cell phone is not facing charges at this time.

"The investigation is ongoing," Sepp said. "This isn't over. We're still digging into it."

The video has since been removed from YouTube. The baby is OK, Sepp said.

Robocop's Comment:

Too bad we can't get a name for this pond scum. I think a fair punishment would be to place this teenager into one of those circus canons, or better yet, an 8" howitzer , and launch his ass across a field into a carpeted hard surface. Post a video of the event on You Tube.

The Winners: Diamonds Cabaret of Dallas Texas, Demonica Abron, and David Bell.

Reason: Making a TWELVE year girl perform in the nude at the Diamonds Cabaret strip club.

THE STORY

Dallas Can't Close Strip Club Where Girl, 12, Danced

DALLAS —
The city cannot shut down a Dallas strip club just because a 12-year-old danced nude there.

The city ordinance that regulates sexually oriented businesses does not allow authorities to revoke the license of such a business for employing someone under 18.

"There's a laundry list of things we can use to deny or revoke a license, but having a 12-year-old dancing in their establishment is not one of the things that automatically enables us to revoke their license," said Lt. Christina Smith, a Dallas police vice unit commander who oversees licensing of such establishments.

Authorities say that over a two-week period last year, the sixth-grader danced at Diamonds Cabaret. They also say they found a 17-year-old girl working in the club in January.

Police are continuing to investigate whether the club's management knew that the girl — a runaway at the time — was underage.

In a faxed statement, the strip club management said it was "shocked and startled" by the allegations.

"Diamond's Cabaret does not condone, support, nor promote, the delinquency of minors or exploitation of children," the statement read.

Demonica Abron, 27, who worked as a stripper in the club, and David Bell, 22, have been charged with felony sexual performance of the child in connection with making the 12-year-old work at the club. Both are also accused of engaging in organized crime.

Bell is accused of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and aggravated kidnapping. He was being held at the Dallas County Jail on Thursday in lieu of a $450,000 bond. It was unclear if Bell had an attorney.

Abron also faces a prostitution charge. A telephone number listing for her could not be found.

The Winner: Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Marilyn Mackel

The Reason: Anti-War Judge Rejects Foster Teen's Bid to Join Marines

A California judge rejected a foster teen's request for early enlistment with the Marine Corps — and a $10,000 signing bonus — reportedly on the grounds that the judge didn't approve of the Iraq war.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Marilyn Mackel denied 17-year-old Shawn Sage's request to join the military last October, according to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News.

"The judge said she didn't support the Iraq war for any reason we're over there," Marine recruiter Sgt. Guillermo Medrano of the Simi Valley U.S. Marine Corps recruiting office told the paper.

"She just said all recruiters were the same — that they 'all tap dance and tell me what I want to hear.' She said she didn't want him to fight in it."

Sage, a Simi Valley, Calif., resident, begged the anti-war judge for permission to join, according to the Daily News.

"Foster children shouldn't be denied [an] ability to enlist in the service just because they're foster kids," Sage told the paper. "Foster kids shouldn't have to go to court to gain approval to serve one's country."

Sage plans to join the Marines when he turns 18 in June and his case has prompted a Republican lawmaker to introduce a bill that would allow foster teens to enlist in the military without the express permission of a judge.

Robocop's Comment:

No, it is not "You can't join the Marines because it is detrimental to your growth", or "We are concerned about you". This is a blatant case of a judge injecting her political views from the bench, again. Marilyn Mackel, for pracitcing another case of judicial legislation, you are a douche!

Douche Of The Week 03.05.08

The Winner: Gloria Steinem

The Reason: She Belittled John McCain’s time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. I am not exactly a McCain fan, but I do honor his physical suffering for this country. She has no clue what suffering FOR this country means. She is also pitting two of our social problems against each other, racism versus gender inequality. Like we did not have enough conflicts already.

The STORY

AUSTIN, Texas—Feminist icon Gloria Steinem took to the stump on Hillary Clinton’s behalf here last night and quickly proved that she has lost none of her taste for provocation.

From the stage, the 73-year-old seemed to denigrate the importance of John McCain’s time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. In an interview with The Observer afterward, she suggested that Barack Obama benefits—and Clinton suffers—because Americans view racism more seriously than sexism.

Steinem also told the crowd that one reason to back Clinton was because “she actually enjoys conflict.”

And she claimed that if Clinton’s experience as first lady were taken seriously in relation to her White House bid, people might “finally admit that, say, being a secretary is the best way to learn your boss’s job and take it over.”

Steinem raised McCain’s Vietnam imprisonment as she sought to highlight an alleged gender-based media bias against Clinton.

“Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years. [The media would ask], ‘What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?’” Steinem said, to laughter from the audience.

McCain was, in fact, a prisoner of war for around five and a half years, during which time he was tortured repeatedly. Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said with bewilderment, “I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don’t think so.”

Steinem’s broader argument was that the media and the political world are too admiring of militarism in all its guises.

“I am so grateful that she [Clinton] hasn’t been trained to kill anybody. And she probably didn’t even play war games as a kid. It’s a great relief from Bush in his jump suit and from Kerry saluting.”

To The Observer, Steinem insisted that “from George Washington to Jack Kennedy and PT-109 we have behaved as if killing people is a qualification for ruling people.”

Other Clinton proxies, notably Black Entertainment Television founder Bob Johnson and a New Hampshire campaign chair, Billy Shaheen, have generated controversies with their criticisms of Obama. By contrast, Steinem told me the Illinois senator was “an intelligent, well-intentioned person.” She added: “I would like very much to see him be president for eight years after Hillary has been president for eight years.”

But she also opined that “a majority of Americans want redemption for racism, for our terrible destructive racist past and so see a vote for Obama as redemptive.” Then, using a term for the mass killing of women, she added, “I don’t think as many want redemption for the gynocide.”

“They acknowledge racism—not enough, but somewhat,” Steinem continued. “They would probably be less likely to acknowledge that the most likely way a pregnant woman is to die is murder from her male partner. There are six million female lives lost in the world every year simply because they are female.”

Steinem has been a Clinton supporter for several years—even though, as she reminded me, she protested against Bill Clinton’s welfare reforms outside the White House. Her support for the former first lady has become more high-profile of late. She penned a January op-ed for The New York Times backing Clinton and asserting that “gender is probably the most restricting force in American life.” She was also one of the women’s rights activists who signed a Feb. 15 letter published on the Huffington Post that insisted, “It’s time for feminists to say that Senator Obama has no monopoly on inspiration.”

Yesterday’s event, billed by the Clinton campaign as “One Million for Hillary with Gloria Steinem,” was one of several appearances scheduled for the veteran feminist across Texas as Tuesday’s primary looms. It was held in a downtown music venue and was attended by around 200 people, the vast majority of whom were women. Before Steinem spoke, two Clinton campaign ads focusing on female support were shown, to applause.

In her speech, Steinem argued that there was a major sexist component to the murmurs from some quarters suggesting Clinton should abandon her presidential quest.

There is, she said, “a great deal of pressure at play for her to act like her gender and give in.” Several shouts of “No!” came from the crowd. Steinem went on: “It’s a way of reinforcing the gender roles, right? Men are loved if they win and Hillary is loved if she loses. … But maybe we shouldn’t be so afraid of an open convention that actually decides something. After all, it was an open convention in New York City that gave us Abraham Lincoln.”

Steinem’s speech offered, Letterman-style, 10 reasons why she was supporting Hillary. Most were serious, though one of the more flippant was “We get Bill Clinton as Eleanor Roosevelt.”

Steinem, like any good politician, also made sure to praise her surroundings. True to her own spirit, though, she did so in less decorous terms than any candidate for office would dare.

Other than Austin, she said, “there is no community in the whole world that understands how to include everybody, how to be serious and have a good time at the same time, how to be fan-fucking-tastic” quite so well.

UPDATE: The Clinton campaign sends over the following statement from Howard Wolfson: "Senator Clinton has repeatedly praised Senator McCain's courage and service to our country. These comments certainly do not represent her thinking in any way. Senator Clinton intends to have a respectful debate with Senator McCain on the issues."

Robocop's Comment:

Miss Steinem, you constant bitching had no importance in 1968, and it has no importance now. You are the reason for cervical cancer. Congrats. You are now officially a Douche. Oh, you are ugly too.

Douche Of The Week 02.27.08

The Winners: Tracey Hermann and James Sargent.

Reason: They left their 5 month old baby in a car seat for EIGHT days until it died.

The Story

Parents of Baby Left Alone in Car Seat for 8 Days Face Murder Charges

PEORIA, Ill. —
A central Illinois couple faces first-degree murder charges in the death of their 5-month-old baby, who was found unresponsive in a car seat that had been placed in a crib.

Both Tracey Hermann, 21, and James Sargent, 23, appeared Wednesday in Peoria County Circuit Court in the death of Benjamin Sargent.

The charges state the parents' actions or lack thereof, were "brutal and heinous . . . indicative of wanton cruelty," factors that could mean they face up to 100 years in prison if convicted.

The 5-month-old was dropped off at his parents' house on Feb. 4, strapped into his car seat. Eight days later, he was found in the same position, said Peoria County State's Attorney Kevin Lyons during a bond hearing for the parents.

"He died from starvation due to neglect from these two defendants, his parents," Lyons said. "It's the worst case of child neglect we have seen since the turn of this century."

Sargent said virtually nothing, during a 20-minute hearing before Peoria County Circuit Judge Glenn Collier. Hermann told Collier her attorney was in Hawaii so she requested a court-appointed lawyer.

Collier ordered the two held without bond pending a hearing Friday, when it is expected that Lyons will present more evidence as to why the two should not be released pending trial.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said Wednesday the baby weighed 10 pounds when he was found by police. He was nearly eight pounds at birth, she said.

Reading from a prepared statement, Lyons said police found the infant sitting in his own waste, all the while strapped into the seat which was in a crib.

During the eight days the baby was strapped in the seat, both Hermann and Sargent were home, "playing video games, watching TV, feeding and caring for themselves," Lyons said.

Lawyers in the state's attorney's juvenile division have begun proceedings to permanently remove Hermann's 3-year-old daughter from the home. That child was staying with another family member but is now in the care of Department of Family and Children's Services.

Robocop's Comment:

Eight months?!? Eight months?!? Must have been a hell of a video game. This couple is truly deserving to be called Douche Of The Week.

The Winner: Kirk Coleman

The Story:

Iraq war vet accused of baby rape

JACKSON, Mich. - A former Army paratrooper who served two tours of duty in Iraq has been ordered tried on charges of raping and critically injuring a 3-month-old girl.

Kirk Coleman is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree child abuse, charges that carry up to life in prison.

Authorities say the then-27-year-old Coleman attacked the baby Sept. 14 in Jackson County's Blackman Township, about 65 miles west of Detroit.

The girl sustained brain damage and 17 broken bones and is undergoing therapy. District Judge R. Darryl Mazur ruled Tuesday there's enough evidence to warrant a trial.

Coleman allegedly told investigators he blacked out after drinking heavily and taking painkillers and awoke to find the injured baby in her crib, The Jackson Citizen Patriot reported.

Coleman's attorney Dennis Hurst said the burden of proof is low at this stage in the process, and that he believes his client will be found not guilty at trial.

Robocop's Comment:

Kirk Coleman, thank you for your service to this great country of ours. Now you need to die.

The Winner: Linda O'Connor of BINGHAMTON, N.Y.

The Story

Feds: N.Y. Woman Sold Child for Sex to Pay Rent

A woman in New York state sold a young girl to her landlord for sex to cover her overdue rent, federal authorities said.

Linda O'Connor, 46, also sold the girl to strangers twice at a hotel in 2006 and 2007, authorities said. The girl was 12 and 13 at the time of the alleged rapes.

O'Connor, who lives in the upstate New York town of Norwich, was arrested Sunday on federal charges of selling a child and other pornography counts. Assistant U.S. Attorney Miroslav Lovric said she could face up to life in prison.

O'Connor's former landlord, Dean Sacco, 49, of New Jersey, was also charged with having sex with the girl, crossing state lines to have sex with a minor and various pornography charges.

The girl told authorities that O'Connor and Sacco photographed the assaults. Now 14 and in foster care, she told police she faced homelessness and that Sacco threatened to kill her if she did not comply.

The girl told investigators Sacco had sex with her at least five times and that O'Connor took her to a hotel in December 2006 to have sex with a 40-year-old man for $150 while O'Connor watched. O'Connor later took her back to the hotel again to have sex with a second man, the girl said. After the second encounter, O'Connor took the girl Christmas shopping.

O'Connor's lawyer, federal public defender Melissa Tuohey, did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment about the charges.

Attorney Kelly Fischer said he was assigned Monday to represent Sacco in the federal court proceedings and declined to comment until he had studied the case.

O'Connor and Sacco were both being held without bail until a detention hearing on Friday, The Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin reported Tuesday.

Sacco was scheduled for trial this week in on rape and nine other state felony charges involving the girl, has been postponed at the request of his defense attorney in that case, said District Attorney Joseph McBride. His lawyer in that case was in court Tuesday and not immediately available for comment.

Lovric said the federal charges "encompass more activity" than the state charges.

Robocop's Comment:

Come one! Her own child? If she is in such dire straights, she could either move to a cheaper place, or walk the damn streets herself. She did not have to pimp out her own flesh and blood. She is indeed a Douche Of The Week.

**NOTE: Please vote for Douche Of The Month on my sidebar.**

Winner: Shanell Monique Mosley

Justification: She left her kids alone so she can travel to Africa to get married.

STORY

Authorities Arrest Mom Who Left Kids Alone to Travel to Africa to Get Married

HOUSTON —
A mother was behind bars on Wednesday after authorities say she left her six children home alone while she traveled to Africa to marry a man she met on the Internet.

Shanell Monique Mosley, 33, was arrested at a Houston airport when she returned, charged with child endangerment and child abandonment for leaving the children in poor conditions. Two other children who are neighbors were also at the home.

Mosley made her first court appearance Wednesday. She has a $275,000 bail.

Child welfare officials contacted Mosley to notify her that her children were in CPS custody and she faced charges, but she hung up, said John Jordan, a Harris County prosecutor.

"It appears that she continued with her honeymoon while her kids had been in CPS custody," Jordan said.

Mosley claims her sister was supposed to watch the kids during her absence.

"I didn't just leave my kids, if that's what you think," Mosley said. "This trip was pre-planned for a year."

Child welfare officials were reviewing the case while the children remained in foster homes, said Estella Olguin, a spokeswoman for Child Protective Services.

Lt. John Legg, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office, said they found the home in poor condition.

"We don't know what would have happened had we not responded," Legg said.

Authorities found the children alone in the house in early January and investigated Mosley's whereabouts, learning she had traveled to Nigeria.

When she left for Nigeria on Dec. 31, Mosley told her 15-year-old daughter she would return in a month, child welfare officials said.

"I left money in my closet," Mosley said. "I gave one of my children three ATM cards."

Assistant Harris County District Attorney John Jordan said investigators have learned Mosley's six children were starving and her older children could not recall their own birth dates.

Mosley's children are 1, 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16, Jordan said. The other two children found in the home were 3- and 4-year-olds the family cared for on behalf of a single father who worked, Jordan said.

Mosley left a Lone Star food card, but officials said it had no monetary balance.

The 9-year-old son told authorities he and the baby ate a still-frozen pizza for breakfast the morning they were discovered home alone. There were no diapers, baby food or formula for the infant, no sheets on beds and fruit was rotting in a basket, Jordan said.

Robocop's Comment:

That groom must have been one HELL of a piece of ass. Ms. Mosley needs to have an involuntary hysterectomy so she cannot produce more innocent children to endanger. For violating the trust of a child to a parent, Ms. Mosley richly deserves the title "Douche Of The Week."

Douche Of The Week 01.24.08

The Winner: Dr. Robin Motz

The Story

New York City Doctor Charged With Stealing 94-Year-Old Mother's Life Savings

NEW YORK —
A physician was charged Wednesday with stealing his 94-year-old mother's life savings of more than $800,000 and leaving her virtually impoverished.

"He took pretty much all that she had," Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said Wednesday when he announced the indictment of Dr. Robin Motz. He said Motz' mother, Minnie, now lives on a small pension and Social Security.

Motz, 68, was accused of stealing $832,453 from his mother after taking control of her finances through a power of attorney in 2003.

Morgenthau said Motz spent the money on flat screen TVs and other luxuries, travel to the Bahamas, Mexico and Hong Kong, and on his vacation house in Hillsdale, N.Y.

"This is a mini-Astor case," Morgenthau said, referring to charges pending against Anthony Marshall, who is accused of massive thefts from his mother, society grande dame and philanthropist Brooke Astor.

Motz was arraigned in Manhattan's state Supreme Court where he pleaded not guilty to second-degree grand larceny and second-degree money laundering. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on either count.

Motz' lawyer, Sean Dwyer, said his client "is devastated by this, but we're looking forward to the chance to defend him."

Justice John Cataldo released Motz on $200,000 cash bail and scheduled his next court date for Jan. 30.

Motz, who lives on the Upper East Side with his third wife, is an internist who practices in Englewood, N.J., and has admitting privileges at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan.

Minnie Motz, a retired librarian, was mentally alert but had some physical ailments, Morgenthau said. He said Motz told his mother he was using her power of attorney — the legal right to make decisions for her — to consolidate her bank accounts to aid him in paying her bills.

In early 2004, Morgenthau said, Motz moved his mother's investment accounts from Oppenheimer & Co. to Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. where he had an account. He depleted the accounts by paying his own $400,000 credit card bills, paying a contractor $200,000 for working on his vacation house, paying his racket club dues, and giving large cash gifts to his children.

Motz' mother learned of her financial predicament when her Upper West Side co-op levied a special assessment to cover the cost of rebuilding a retaining wall which had collapsed and she was unable to pay it.

With Minnie Motz facing eviction, the building's management called a social worker who contacted the district attorney's Elder Abuse Unit. That unit started an immediate investigation, Morgenthau said.

Robocop's Comment:

Ever hear the phrase "Honor thy Father and Mother"? Dr. Robin Motz obviously ignored that little Commandment, and committed Grand Larceny against his own mother. It is people like this that give the pro-choice movement a reason to exist. For all of the above, Dr. Robin Motz earns the title Douche Of The Week.

Douche Of The Week 01.11.08

First, please post a vote for 2007's Douche Of The Year.

Now this week's Douche Award goes to a not too recent offender.

Imagine a woman getting raped. Imagine a suspect caught. Imagine a trial were the victim is NOT allowed to use the words rape, sexual assault, sexual assault kit, defendant, ect..., but was allowed to use the words sexual intercourse, and sex? This would confuse any jury, and it did.

The location is Lancaster County, Nebraska. The judge who imposed these restrictions, thereby stacking the case on behalf of Mister Rapist is Judge Jeffre Cheuvront. This really happened.

For being a prime example of judicial legislation, protecting a rapist, and denying a victim justice, Judge Jeffre Cheuvront is this week's "Douche Of The Week."
