Fun Monday 23 July 2007

Willowtree is the host for this weeks Fun Monday. He gave us a choice of one of two assignments:

#1 "Tell us about your best friend. Particularly things like: where you first met, how long you've been friends and why you think you are best friends"

OR

#2 "Who is the TV character that most makes you want to put your foot through the screen (it must be a character, not a person in reality TV). And why."

I'll pick #2. The TV character who would most make me want to put my foot through the screen would be the star character from the now defunct show "Reba". The main reason I dislike the character would be that fact that she thinks she is always right, no matter how wrong she can be at times. Let's face it, who would want to take family advice from someone who had a knocked up teenaged daughter and live in son-in-law, and an out of control teenaged daughter? I have come across quite a few "know it alls" too many times in my 40+ years on this good earth, and the Reba character is the tv epitome of them all.

On an amusing note, "Reba" just happens to be one of my wife's favorite tv reruns. Alittle comparison here: Reba and my wife are both alittle on the stubborn side, but I happen to love my wife, so I can have guiltless hate for Reba's character.

A close runner up would be the character Raymond Barone from the now defunct show "Everybody Loves Raymond". The explanation is simple on this one. He is a whopped mama's boy.

I've only watched Reba a couple of times and for the exact reasons you mention. No thank you!

I liked Reba but I think I liked it mostly for the song at the beginning. Whatever, I can be strange when I comes to tv. I agree about the Everybody loves Raymond character. That drove me nuts to watch it!

Now I am not familiar with Reba but you have made me rather curious!!

I haven't ever seen either of those programmes so I'll take your word for it!

You comparing me to Reba and you say you hate Reba, makes me wonder boy! :P
IN my defense:
I can relate to the "character" of Reba. I was a single mom for a period of time, divorced because first hubby was a cheating arse hole.
Thank goodness Thing 1 is not out of control, married with a kid. Thing 2 is not out of control or strange. *LOL*

BTW I still hate Kirk. ;)

Too funny! I didn't do this part of the assignment because I couldn't think of any characters. I think you picked a good one!

So...being stuborn is bad? Or being a no-it-all is bad? My sweetie tells me I'm a "hard headed woman" and I'm *still* not sure if he means that in a good way or a bad way.

Great post! I have never watched Reba's show nor do I care to. I can see your point about Ray.
I watch several shows but since they are on summer break I couldn't come up with one I loath.

I am glad I never saw the show Reba

I couldn't stand watching Reba, either. Never could watch it.

Also usually have problems getting along with redheads - and no clue as to why.

My husband can't stand Raymond - but his bitch of a wife always irritated me more.

now I don't feel so bad about never watching that show.

Fact is, TV is not on very much anymore.

Love her music, however.

I left a comment here yesterday! Anyway, I agree with you, Reba should have stuck to singing. I did like the blonde bimbo who married Brock though

Sorry Willowtree. The blog either ate your post, or higher forces were scheming against us.

Ugh, that whole show, Everybody Loves Raymond, annoys me. I haven't seen the Reba show...

I am very glad they don't show Reba here.
I can see your point about Raymond, I found that show was amusing the first time you saw it, less so the next, a little annoying the next, then on and on through to downright frustratingly annoying.

I haven't watched Reba, but I have seen the odd commercial, and it seems to me her talking voice is a little annoying. Well, now that I think of it, Raymond whined a lot too. I have been visiting your wifes blog lately, so thought I would give you a visit this fun Monday.

I would like to thank everyone for visiting my blog. It was my wife who got me to do this, and I find it fun.

You may have a point about Reba. I have a hard time hating her because, ah well, she is Reba. I do heartily agree with the Raymond choice...no Raymond loving here.

Does your wife have a blog?
